The Fire Prevention Division performs annual inspections of existing buildings to verify that they are in compliance with the International Fire Code (IFC), International Building Code (IBC), and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). We are currently using the 2012 edition of the IFC. Annually our inspectors walk through the buildings with a business or building owner to check for things like electrical problems, improper storage, heating equipment conditions, accessible egress, and other hazardous conditions. Our inspectors will also inspect emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, fire alarms, fire sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and hood and duct systems to assure that they are being properly maintained and tested.
