COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

National Night Out
The Fort Lupton Fire Protection District participates in the annual event organized by the Fort Lupton Police Department. We hand out fire prevention materials and deliver a fire safety message with Freddie the Fire Truck. Firefighters showcase and operate state of the art fire equipment.

Annual Fireworks Show
We coordinate the City’s annual fireworks show and handle all permits for sales of legal fireworks outside the city limits.

PROGRAMS FOR KIDS

Fire Prevention Week
Usually in the first two weeks of October of each year, the Fire Marshal will deliver a fire safety messages to the second grade classes from Twombly and Butler elementary schools. The fire education class includes viewing a video, demonstration of fire equipment from firefighters, and to learn how to crawl low in smoke at the smoke house. The students will learn how to be fire safe at home and Freddie the Fire Truck will talk to the students about fire safety. Each student will receive a plastic fire helmet and materials to take home to go over fire safe habits at home. We also have an inflatable fire safety house to educate children about fire safety in the home.

We conduct additional classes at each elementary school for third and fourth grade students.

School District Safety Classes
We conduct fire evacuation and tornado drills throughout the year at all schools.

We present fire prevention programs to any class when requested during the school year.

We conduct school bus safety classes at the beginning of school year for all school bus drivers.

Juvenile Fire Starter Program
We conduct juvenile fire setter risk surveys for court-ordered fire setters and their families.

Child Safety Seat Inspections
We provide free car seat inspections and assist with installations. Car seats are provided to those families in need for a small donation. Call 303-857-4603 for an appointment with a Certified Car Seat Technician.

Safe Playground Equipment
We work with Safe Kids Colorado Coalition on safe playground equipment grants for the community.

PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS

Aging Adults
We offer classes for aging adults and events to educate them on how to be fire safe in their homes.

Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors
We offer smoke and carbon monoxide detectors with installation at no charge to senior citizens and those families who cannot afford to purchase them.

Remember to test your detectors monthly, and when you change your clocks, change your smoke detector battery.

Rural Addressing Signs
We offer emergency 911 reflective address signs to anyone within the Fire District for $8.00 each. These signs are 6” x 18,” double-sided, 100% aluminum. These signs will aid us in quickly locating your residence during any emergency.

Fire Prevention Programs
We offer fire prevention programs to local service organizations and groups with fire equipment demonstration by firefighters.

Gun Locks
We provide free gun locks to residents of the Fire Protection District.

Burn Permits
We issue Weld County burn permits, valid for two weeks, for areas outside the city limits of Fort Lupton. The approved items for burning are weeds and small branches (less than 1 inch in diameter). There is no charge for this service. Items that cannot be burned include trash, plastics, furniture, woodpiles, etc. To apply for a burn permit, click here.
